Project highlight: PhotonQ

Barz Group

Photonic quantum computing

The PhotonQ project aims at realising a photonic quantum processor in a collabororative effort between the universities of Mainz, Würzburg, Stuttgart, TU Munich as well as partners from industry.

The project is led by Prof. Dr. Stefanie Barz, University of Stuttgart.

PhotonQ aims at developing a measurement-based photonic quantum processor using highly entangled photonic states and adaptive measurements as resources. The processor is based on deterministic single-photon sources, scalable silicon-photonic circuits, novel interconnection technology, and single photon detectors.

PhotonQ's expertise lies in quantum technologies, quantum optics, solid-state physics, microelectronics, photonic integration, and optical 3D printing. The project involves partnerships with multiple universities and industrial partners.

PhotonQ is an innovative project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).
