The Hong group is inviting students to apply for MSc and BSc projects in experimental quantum optomechanics.

Quantum optomechanics is a new, exciting field in quantum science that aims to optically control quantum motions of mesoscopic mechanical objects like micromechanical devices. It will allow us to create new quantum technologies and probe quantum principles in new mass and length scales. We focus on developing a new, hybrid quantum optomechanical system based on optically levitated glass micro-beads and nanophotonic devices.

We are looking for motivated students who wish to participate in our research. In our group, you will have opportunities to gain experience in

  • quantum optics experiments,
  • quantum measurement and control,
  • modeling and simulation of nanophotonic devices

In addition, you will get a rare chance of working in the ZAQuant (Center for Applied Quantum Technology), the state-of-the-art research building completed this summer. If you are interested, don't hesitate to contact Prof. Sungkun Hong (sungkun.hong@fmq.uni-stuttgart.de)
