Ph.D. and MSc positions available for Experimental Quantum Levitodynamics

September 4, 2024 /

Ph.D. and MSc projects in Quantum Levitodynamics are available in the Hong group.

Hong group is inviting students to apply for Ph.D. and MSc positions in experimental quantum levitodynamics.

We invite students to apply for Ph.D. and MSc projects in the Hong group (https://www.fmq.uni-stuttgart.de/hong-group/) at the Institute for Functional Matter and Quantum Technologies. Our group is located in the ZAQuant (Center for Applied Quantum Technology), the state-of-the-art research building on the Vaihingen campus.

Quantum levitodynamics is a new, exciting field in quantum science/technology that aims to optically levitate dielectric nano- and micro-particles and quantum mechanically control their motions. It will allow us to create new quantum technologies ranging from sensing to information processing and to probe quantum principles in new mass and length scales.

We are looking for motivated students who wish to participate in our research. We have one Ph.D. position with a project on “quantum levitodynamics with photonic crystal cavities” and one MSc position with a thesis topic on “quantum sensing with optically levitated functionalized particles.” If you are interested, don’t hesitate to contact Prof. Sungkun Hong (sungkun.hong@fmq.uni-stuttgart.de).
