This week, our research group had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Stepan Kovarik, who visited our labs and delivered an insightful talk titled "Paramagnetic resonance of a single pentacene molecule driven by a time-dependent spin current". Stepan discussed the electrical control of magnetization, a key concept in high-density magnetic storage devices, and introduced new findings on spin torque-driven resonances within single molecules. Using a scanning tunneling microscope combined with electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR- or ESR-STM) paramagnetic resonances induced by spin-currents could be observed in single pentacene molecules on insulating thin layered MgO.
We thank Stepan for the visit and the valuable discussions!
